Security Statement

Security Technology

Providing you with a secure online experience is a high priority for Island Title Corp. We recognize that your privacy and security are the utmost importance and we, at Island Title Corp., have made substantial investment in the latest server, database, backup and firewall technologies to protect the information assets of the Island Title Network. These technologies are deployed as part of a sophisticated security architecture and protocol. All data resides in a tightly controlled, secure data center. These investments mean that information about the identity and preferences of individual users and partners is never accessible to anyone outside of Island Title Corp.

Data Encryption

Security enabled browsers such as Microsoft IE 2.1 or greater and Netscape Navigator 2.0 or greater utilize industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to allow for data encryption making it extremely difficult to read even if it is wrongly intercepted.

Using these security-enabled browsers will decrease the chances for the unintended or fraudulent use of your personal information:

Browser security settings

Your browser security preference settings are your first line of defense from theft or unwanted viewing of confidential, personal information. The most popular browsers offer the ability to receive an alert or notification when the following may occur:

  • changing between secure and insecure transmission mode

  • receiving an invalid site identification for the site to which you are about to transmit

  • sending a transmission over an open or unsecured connection

Check the settings of you browser security features to see all the checks that are possible and/or are currently in place.

  • In Microsoft IE 4.0 go to your "Tools" menu, select "Options" and choose "Security" tab

  • In Netscape Navigator 4.0 go to your "Communicator" menu, select "Tools" and choose "Security info"

Browser security signals

The presence of security measures surrounding the entry of data on the web page is identified in several ways on your browser:

  • the URL identifying the page will always begin with "https://" versus the normal "http://."

  • a security symbol to indicate operation in a mode that supports secure transmissions

  • a "closed lock" icon will be present at the bottom right-hand corner of your Microsoft IE browser screen

  • an "unbroken key" icon appears in the lower left-hand corner of the Netscape Navigator browser screen

With these security measures in place, you can feel confident that your on-line transaction will be sure.

We hope that once you understand the measures we employ and the steps you can take to protect yourself, you will feel confident about the security of your transaction and personal information.
